It's not something you'll only use for three weeks in summer.
Enjoy cool rooms in summer and comfortable warmth in winter, with one discreet system.
More heat from the electricity you use
Modern air conditioning works as a heat pump, so in winter it can deliver several units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. That makes it a very efficient way to warm a room — especially useful for bedrooms, home offices, garden rooms and other spaces you don’t always want to heat with the whole central-heating system.
Cooling and heating that works beautifully with solar
If you already have solar panels, your air conditioning can use some of the electricity your home is generating during the day. That can make summer cooling particularly economical and can also help reduce the cost of daytime heating in colder months.
Installation pricing
Home installations start from £1,695 with the £300 launch discount, applied once per installation. The standard starting price is £1,995. Room size, system choice, access, electrical work and pipe routes affect the final quotation. 0% VAT on qualifying home installations until 31 March 2027.

Actual performance varies by system, room conditions and outdoor temperature.
How Much Does It Cost To Run?
As an illustrative guide, eight hours of overnight cooling can cost around £1–£1.50, depending on the room, weather and temperature setting.
Efficient inverter systems reduce their power once the room reaches temperature, so actual running costs can be lower in mild conditions and higher during very hot weather.
Illustrative overnight cooling cost: approximately £1.05 for 8 hours, using an example average electrical input of 0.5 kW and an illustrative electricity tariff of 26.3p/kWh.
The live calculator lets you adjust hours, tariff and example power draw. It models cooling only, not heating costs.
Solar generation can offset daytime electricity use. Overnight cooling relies on battery storage or the grid.
Your questions answered
Do I need an outside electrical isolator?
Yes. A suitable external electrical isolator is required for the outdoor air-conditioning unit. You are welcome to arrange this with your own qualified electrician. Alternatively, JCOOL can arrange an electrician for £350 + VAT, paid directly to the electrician on completion of their work. The electrical work is separate from the air-conditioning installation and will be confirmed before the job goes ahead.
What are your payment terms?
We take a 50% deposit when the installation is booked, with the remaining 50% payable on completion of the air-conditioning installation. This secures your installation date and allows us to order the equipment and materials required for your job.
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
Single-room domestic installations start from £1,695 with our £300 launch discount (standard starting price £1,995). Qualifying fixed air-source heat pump installations in homes benefit from 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. The £300 discount applies once per installation, including multi-room installations. Final prices depend on the system and installation requirements, with any applicable VAT included.
Is home air conditioning eligible for 0% VAT?
Qualifying fixed air-source heat pumps installed in residential accommodation are eligible for 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. This can include reversible air-conditioning systems that heat and cool. Cooling-only systems, supply-only purchases and commercial installations are not automatically covered. We will confirm eligibility and the applicable VAT treatment in your final quotation.
Can the same system heat and cool?
Yes. Modern inverter systems provide cooling in summer and efficient heating in winter — often referred to as a heat pump.
How noisy is air conditioning?
Modern systems are remarkably quiet. We can recommend quieter options for bedrooms and home offices.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
We'll talk through suitable positions during the recommendation and explain any planning or access considerations before installation.
How long does installation take?
A typical single-room installation takes around 4–6 hours. Multi-room systems usually take one full day.
What warranty do you get?
Our installations come with up to 5 years parts and labour warranty, subject to the manufacturer's terms and recommended servicing.
